My Opinion
In my opinion, a simple weight-loss routine that can be followed consistently is often more effective than a long and complicated diet and exercise plan.
I am 42 years old and 5 feet 10 inches tall. I do not have a very muscular body, but I have generally remained healthy. For a long time, my weight stayed between 71 and 72 kg.
Around March 2026, I noticed that my belly fat had started increasing. By April, my weight had reached approximately 77 kg. Although this weight may not be considered very high for my height, it was higher than my normal weight, and I did not feel comfortable with the increase in belly fat.
I decided to return to 71–72 kg without joining a gym.
Initially, I asked ChatGPT to prepare a weight-loss plan for me. It provided a detailed diet and exercise programme, but the plan was very long. Because of the nature of my work and my existing habits, it was difficult for me to follow so many instructions every day.
That experience made me realise something important: a plan may look perfect on paper, but it is useful only when it fits into a person’s real life.
Instead of following the complete programme, I created a much simpler routine for myself.
The Simple Routine I Followed
I began walking approximately 4 km every morning at a brisk pace. In the evening, I walked another 3.5 to 4 km.
This gave me a total daily walking distance of approximately 7.5 to 8 km.
I did not join a gym, perform weight training, or use any exercise equipment. Walking was convenient, free, and easy to include in my daily schedule.
I also made some basic changes to my diet.
I ate a heavy breakfast that included at least two eggs. During office hours, I generally avoided a regular lunch and drank two cups of black coffee or milk coffee without sugar.
After returning from the office, I usually had a mango shake, banana shake, or steamed sprout salad. For dinner, I ate two eggs with a Mediterranean-style salad.
This was not a complicated or professionally designed diet. It was simply a routine that I found manageable.
My Result
Within approximately one month, my weight reduced from around 77 kg to 71.5 kg.
For me, this was proof that consistency matters more than complexity.
A detailed fitness programme may contain better exercises, more balanced meals, and more scientific calculations. However, if a person cannot follow it regularly, it may not deliver the expected result.
On the other hand, a basic routine may work well when it is practical enough to be followed every day.
Why Simple Plans May Work Better
Busy people often struggle with weight-loss plans because such plans require too many changes at the same time.
They may ask people to:
- Prepare several different meals every day
- Measure every portion
- Follow strict meal timings
- Perform multiple exercises
- Count calories continuously
- Completely change their daily schedule
Some people can follow such plans successfully, but many cannot.
When a plan becomes too difficult, people may follow it for a few days and then stop. This can make them feel that they have failed, even though the real problem may be that the plan was unsuitable for their lifestyle.
In my opinion, it is better to begin with a few realistic changes and follow them consistently.
For me, those changes were regular walking, avoiding sugar in coffee, reducing heavy meals, eating eggs, and choosing lighter evening and dinner options.
Does Everyone Need to Follow My Routine?
No. I do not believe that everyone should copy my exact routine.
Skipping lunch worked for me during this short period, but it may not be appropriate for everyone. Similarly, the amount and speed of walking that I followed may be difficult for someone who has joint problems, heart disease, diabetes, weakness, or another health condition.
My experience should be treated as a personal opinion, not as a universal diet plan.
Every person has a different body, work routine, health condition, and nutritional requirement. Anyone planning a major change in diet or physical activity should consider consulting a qualified doctor or dietitian.
My Final Opinion
I believe that the best weight-loss plan is not necessarily the longest, most expensive, or most scientific-looking plan.
The best plan is the one that a person can realistically follow.
Gym workouts, professional diet plans, and structured fitness programmes can certainly be beneficial. However, they are not the only ways to reduce recently gained weight.
In my case, regular walking and simple diet control helped me lose approximately 5.5 kg in one month and return to my normal weight.
My experience taught me that small, practical actions performed consistently can sometimes produce better results than an ideal plan that is too difficult to follow.
The real question is not, “Which weight-loss plan looks best?”
The more useful question is, “Which healthy routine can I continue every day?”
Disclaimer: This is my personal experience and opinion. It is not medical or nutritional advice. Weight-loss results vary, and restrictive diets or intensive exercise routines may not be suitable for everyone.
